About Engine Test Stand 11kW

Engine Test Stand 11kW:

Micro Teknik Technical Description

Setting up a power test stand for internal combustion engines with a power output of up to 11kW requires two main components: The control and load unit and a choice of test engine: single cylinder research engine (water-cooled), 2-cylinder petrol engine (air-cooled) and 2-cylinder diesel engine (water-cooled).

The main function is to provide the required braking power. This is generated by an air-cooled asynchronous motor with a regenerative feedback unit. The braking speed can be precisely adjusted using a potentiometer. The torque is measured indirectly using a force transducer. For this purpose, the entire brake system is mounted in floating bearings.

The test engine is mounted on the test bed and connected to the asynchronous motor. The asynchronous motor is initially used as the starting mechanism for the test engine. As soon as the test engine is running, the asynchronous motor and regenerative feedback unit act as a brake unit for applying a load to the combustion engine. The braking power is fed back into the electrical system.

The lower section of the mobile instrument panel contains fuel tanks and a quietening vessel for the intake air. The panel contains digital displays for the speed, torque, air consumption and temperatures (engine cooling water - inlet and outlet - exhaust gas, fuel and intake air). Fuel consumption, cooling water flow rate in test engine and the calorimeter available as an option are displayed in analogue form. All measuring signals are present in electrical form and can be stored and processed using the PC data acquisition function supplied. Data is transmitted to the PC using a USB interface.

Lifting gear is required to exchange the test engines.

Reliable Engine Testing Performance

Engine Test Stand 11kW delivers precise performance, endurance, and emissions testing for petrol and diesel engines. Its heavy-gauge steel frame and high-accuracy sensors ensure trustworthy results even in intensive usage environments. Engine mounts and anti-vibration pads enhance safety and prolong service life.

Advanced Control and Data Acquisition

The integrated Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) enables seamless automation and versatile test management, while data can be easily monitored and logged through USB and Ethernet connectivity. Digital displays offer clear, real-time parameters for torque, speed, and temperature.

Moveable and Durable Construction

Constructed with a robust, powder-coated mild steel frame, the test stand is both sturdy and portable thanks to its caster wheels. The blue and grey finish adds an industrial aesthetic, while its noise output remains below 70 dB(A), ensuring a more comfortable working environment.

FAQs of Engine Test Stand 11kW:

Q: How does the engine test stand ensure accurate and safe engine testing?

A: The stand employs high-accuracy sensors (0.5% FS) for real-time data measurement, and features emergency stop and overload protection to maximize operator safety. Anti-vibration pads and sturdy engine mounts further stabilize the platform during operation.

Q: What types of engines and tests is the stand compatible with?

A: This test stand is suitable for both petrol and diesel internal combustion engines up to 11 kW. It is equipped to handle performance, endurance, and emissions testing, making it versatile for a wide range of engine evaluation requirements.

Q: When and where is this engine test stand typically used?

A: The stand is ideal for research labs, manufacturing facilities, and quality control environments where internal combustion engine testing is necessary. It is used during engine development, production validation, or routine performance checks.

Q: What is the process for installing and operating the test stand?

A: Installation is straightforward: the stand is floor-mounted using caster wheels for positioning, and requires connection to an electric power source (415 V AC). Operation is managed through the PLC and digital control panel, with test data available via the digital display and exportable to a computer.

Q: How does the data acquisition system benefit engine testers?

A: With both USB and Ethernet connectivity, data can be collected efficiently and analyzed in real time. This allows operators to monitor engine performance closely during tests, make necessary adjustments, and document outcomes for quality assurance or research.

Q: What maintenance is required to keep the test stand in optimal condition?

A: Routine checks on the water-cooling system, sensors, and electrical connections ensure reliable operation. Keeping the frame clean, inspecting anti-vibration pads, and verifying emergency safety features are recommended for long-term durability.

Q: What are the key benefits of this particular engine test stand model?

A: Key advantages include robust construction, portability, advanced automation, high accuracy, broad compatibility, and comprehensive safety features. These attributes support efficient, precise, and safe engine testing for manufacturers, exporters, and researchers alike.
