About ORIFICE & JET VELOCITY APPARATUS

In the Orifice & Free JetFlow accessory a constant head tank is fed with water from the HydraulicsBench. The orifice is installed at the base of this tank by means of a specialwall fitting, which provides a flush inside surface.

The head is maintained at aconstant value by an adjustable over flow and is indicated by a level scale. Aseries of adjustable probes enable the path followed by the jet to beascertained.

Demonstration Capabilities:-

Establishing the coefficient ofvelocity for a small orifice.

Finding the coefficient ofdischarge for a small orifice with flow under constant head and flow undervarying head.

Comparing the measured trajectoryof a jet with that predicted by simple theory of mechanics
