About Flexural Testing Machine

Flexural Testing Machine: MTCT-115

Although generally not such an important property of concrete than compressive strength, tensile strength values are often important to know when the concrete used free of reinforcement and may be subjected to some tensile force. The test method essentially involves applying a load at the centre of a beam of concrete supported at its ends. The load required to break the specimen is then recorded.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION

  • For 150 mm x 150 mm x 700 mm beam, the centre distance between the rollers is 600 mm, while it is 400 mm for beams of size 100 mm x 100 mm x 500 mm.
  • It is 200 mm centre to centre, for 150 mm x 150 mm x 700 mm size beam and 133 mm for 100 mm x 100 mm x 500 mm size beam.
  • Total capacity of the machine is 100 KN.
  • 150mm dia pressure gauge of 0-100 KN x 1 KN least count to indicate load is fixed on the load frame.
  • A separate electrically cum hand operated pumping unit housed in a cabinet is supplied.
  • On/Off switch and a slow/fast lever to control rate of loading are fitted on the front panel of the pumping unit.
OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES

  • Spare Oil seal
  • Hydraulic Oil ( tin of 5 liters)
  • Beam Mould 10 X 10 X 50 cm
  • Beam Mould 15 X 15 X 60 cm
  • Beam Mould 15 X 15 X 70 cm
  • Beam Mould 15 X 15 X 75 cm
  • Trowel
  • Concrete Scoop

Engineered for user convenience, it features a digital control panel for straightforward operation and precise adjustments. The floor-mounted construction ensures stability, while the semi-automatic or automatic control options cater to various testing requirements.

Accurate and Reliable Performance

With a measuring range of 0-100 kN and fine resolution of 0.01 kN, the machine delivers reliable results across a spectrum of concrete testing applications. Response time is quick (2 seconds), making it suitable for high-throughput laboratories. Overload and safety features provide additional protection, ensuring consistent, accurate readings during every test cycle.

Wide Application and Versatile Use

Designed specifically for concrete flexural strength testing, this machine accommodates standard specimen sizes (100 mm x 100 mm x 500 mm). Adjustable test speed and stroke settings offer flexibility for different material properties. The equipment operates efficiently in a range of environmental conditions, handling humidity up to 90% RH and temperatures between 10C and 40C, ensuring reliable performance across India.

FAQs of Flexural Testing Machine:

Q: How is the Flexural Testing Machine used for concrete testing?

A: The Flexural Testing Machine is employed to determine the flexural strength of concrete specimens. Place the standard-sized specimen (100 mm x 100 mm x 500 mm) on the supports, set the test parameters via the digital control panel, and initiate the machine either manually or automatically. The machine applies the load and digitally or analogically records the results, displaying the peak value accurately.

Q: What are the benefits of using a machine with heavy-duty steel frame and powder-coated finish?

A: The heavy-duty steel frame ensures structural integrity and long-term durability, even under frequent, rigorous testing. The powder-coated, rust-resistant finish increases the lifespan of the equipment by protecting it from environmental corrosion and physical wear, making it ideal for both laboratory and industrial settings.

Q: When should the overload protection feature be utilized?

A: The overload protection feature is automatically activated whenever the applied load exceeds the set safety threshold. This safeguards both the equipment and the specimen from damage, ensuring user safety during operation. Its always in effect during each test cycle, providing peace of mind to operators.

Q: Where can this Flexural Testing Machine be installed?

A: Designed as a floor-mounted unit, the machine can be installed in laboratories, research centers, concrete testing facilities, and construction quality assurance environments. Its robust frame and standard power supply (220 V AC, 50 Hz) make it suitable for a wide range of industrial locations across India.

Q: What is the process for calibrating and setting test parameters?

A: Calibration and parameter setting are managed through the digital control panel. Users can input the desired test speed, stroke, and control mode (manual/automatic). The digital display facilitates precise calibration, with a measuring range of 0-100 kN and a resolution of 0.01 kN, ensuring consistent and accurate results.

Q: How does the adjustable test speed benefit different applications?

A: The adjustable test speed (50 mm/min, variable) allows operators to customize the loading rate to suit different concrete strengths and testing standards. This flexibility improves testing accuracy and ensures compliance with various test methodologies, benefiting diverse research and quality control applications.
