About CALANDRIA EVAPORATOR APPARATUS

The present set-up is designed tostudy the operation of Calandria evaporator. It consists of a short tubevertical evaporator in which tubes are surrounded by a Stainless Steel jacketand fitted with accumulator.

Dilute solution is fed to theevaporator and heated by Steam from a steam generator to concentrate the dilutefeed solution to a desired level. The jacket is fitted with a steam trap andthe condensate is collected at the end of trap.

The vapors of volatile solventare condensed in a shell & tube type condenser and the balance non-volatilesolute collected in the accumulator recycled back to the evaporator.

Material and Heat Balance.

Economy and the capacity of theevaporator.

Overall heat transferco-efficient.

Utilities Required

Electricity Supply: 1 Phase, 220V AC, 50 Hz, 32 amp MCB with earth connection (Earth voltage should be lessthan 5 volts)

Water Supply: Initial fill andfloor drain.

Floor area: 1.5 m x 1.0 m.

Chemicals: Sodium carbonate &distilled water.
