Tile Abrasion Tester

Tile Abrasion Tester: MTCT-124 The tile sample is pressed under a specified load against a grinding path strewn evenly with an abrasive powder revolving at the rate of 30 + 1 r.p.m. At the end of 100 revolutions of the disc the second parallel side of the tile is subjected to wear for an equal number of revolutions of the disc. The wear of tile is measured using a thickness gauge. The Abrasion testing machine consists of a replaceable grinding path fitting on to a disc rotating its vertical axis. The rotating disc and grinding path are enclosed by a circular tray. A bracket holds the specimen. The loading is by a counter balanced lever. A funnel is provided to facilitate charging the grinding path with abrasive powder. Concrete Test Hammer: MTCT-110 Concrete structures will need to be examined and tested to ensure the concrete remains of adequate strength and durability. Rebound hammer surveys can be conducted to provide a rough estimate of concrete strength, where it is not possible to determine this by more accurate means such as core extraction and testing. The test involves using a special rebound hammer, which measures the recoil of a piston against the concrete surface when a standard force is applied. This recoil can then be correlated approximately to concrete strength. SPECIFICATION The rebound hammer consists of a barrel in which is housed a hammer mass attached to an impact spring which slides on a guide bar. A plunger is attached to the guide bar which is pressed against the surface to be tested. As the piston is pressed against the surface to be tested, on reaching the compressive strength, the hammer mass is released and rebounds to a certain extent, according to the strength of the surface, which is indicated by a rider on a calibrated scale. A lock button fixed on the body of the hammer lock the rider in place and the rider can be reset to zero Position by using the same button. The equivalent compressive strength can be computed from the chart supplied. It is suitable for specimen of compressive strengths 100-700Kg/cm. Concrete Permeability Apparatus: MTCT-109 A concrete structure is considered to be of adequate durability if it performs in accordance with its intended level of functionality and serviceability over an expected or predicted life cycle. Concrete durability depends largely on the ease (or difficulty) with which fluids (water, carbon dioxide, oxygen) in the form of liquid or gas can migrate through the hardened concrete mass. Concrete is a porous material. Therefore, moisture movement can occur by flow, diffusion, or sorption. We are concerned with all three, but generally the overall potential for moisture in concrete by these three modes is referred to as its permeability. Accelerated Curing Tank Accelerated Curing tank shall be constructed from any material of suitable strength that will resist the effect of corrosion. Internal dimension should be adequate to accommodate the required number and size of test specimen. The tank shall contain sufficient water and be controlled so that temperature of water around the specimen immersed in the tank is maintained at the desired level. EXPERIMENTAL PROGRAM-To get the early age strength through accelerated curing, warm water method was adopted. In this method, after the casting of cubes, specimen was cured at normal temperature for 24 hours and then put in accelerated tank on second day with temperature 80 for 5 hours and then 80c to falling temperature up to next day. After this period of curing, concrete cube specimen was tested for compressive strength and results are co-related with 28 and 56 days compressive strength of standard water curing. This co relation of accelerated strength and normal curing strength is achieved for all types of cement. To find the confident level of these relation seven different types of cement were used. The composition of different types of Cement is given in table IV. For each type of cement four different were used. Mix design was prepared by ACI method. Concrete Penetrometer MTCT-108 This test is used to determine the elapsed time between batching of a concrete sample and when it is deemed by standard methods to have set. The method involves measuring the penetration resistance of a test sample, which has had coarse particles removed at periodic intervals. It is particularly useful, in determining the effect on setting time of admixtures in the concrete, where these may have been introduced specifically to increase the setting time. It consists of cylindrical spring housing with a plunger attached to the top of the spring. Penetration needle is attached to the other end of the spring housing. The plunger is graduated in 1 kg divisions, to a maximum capacity of 60kg, which can be read with respect to the top end of the spring housing. A set of six needle points with areas of 645, 323, 161, 65, 32 and 16mm2 are provided. Specification of Concrete Penetrometer Consists of a needle having face area 3/10 sq.cm. Tile Flexural Testing Machine: MTCT-125 Flexural strength of clay roofing tiles cement concrete flooring tiles. Flexural load is applies on the tiles using lead shots. The machine consists of a stand on which two 40mm dia bearing rollers or 12mm dia rollers are placed at centre distance of 150mm, 200mm, 250mm, or 270mm as the case may be. The third upper roller applies centrally flexural load by means of lever arrangement. Lead shot contained in an upper vessel start flowing into lower container at a rate of 45 to 55 kg. Concrete Slump Test Apparatus

Slump Test Apparatus: MTCT-123 The oldest most widely used test for determining workability. This test is used to determine the workability of fresh concrete, which would normally be undertaken at the point of delivery to ensure the concrete, is of adequate consistency for placement. The test is applicable to concrete of medium workability. The device is a hollow cone-shaped mould. The mold is filled in three layers of each volume. Each layer is rodded with a 16mm steel rod 25 times. The mould is then lifted away and the change in the height of the concrete is measured against the mould. The slump test is a measure of the resistance of concrete to flow under its own weight. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION The apparatus comprise of a slump cone with handles made of mild steel sheet, a chrome plated steel tamping rod of 16 mm diameter X 600 mm long, rounded off at one end, with a scale marked on it and a steel base plate with a carrying handle. The mould for the test specimen will be in the form of frustum of a cone having the following internal dimensions as follows. Bottom diameter 20 cm Top diameter 10 cm The Cone is constructed of metal of at least 1.6 mm thickness and the top and bottom are open and at right angles to the axis of the cone. The mould have a smooth internal surface and provided with suitable foot pieces to a base plate and also handles to facilitate lifting it from the molded concrete test specimen in a vertical direction as required by the test. The base plate is provided with cleats & swivel handle.

Compaction Factor Apparatus

Compaction Factor Apparatus: MTCT-103 The compaction factor is defined as the ratio of the mass of the concrete compacted in the compaction factor apparatus to the mass of the fully compacted concrete. It involves dropping a volume of concrete from one hopper to another and measuring the volume of concrete in the final hopper to that of a fully compacted volume. The results of the compaction factor test can be correlated to slump, although the relationship is not linear. This test is difficult to run in the field and is not practical for large aggregates Compared to the slump test, the apparatus is bulky and a balance is required to perform measurements.

Cube Mould MTCT-112 Cubes of fresh concrete are made to test a variety of properties on the eventually cured and hardened concrete. Fresh concrete is subjected to a standard compaction regime in the cube mould and is then normally initially cured under specific laboratory conditions. The moulds are manufactured, subject to tight dimensional, hardness, square ness and surface finish requirements. SPECIFICATION Complete with base plate. Needle Vibrator: MTCT-121 In the process of compaction, efforts are only directed to reduce voids in the compacted concrete. The Vibrators produce vibrations which when transmitted to plastic concrete make it to flow and affect compaction. The air bubbles are forced out of concrete due to vibrations.
