About Compressometer Concrete Specimen

Compressometer Concrete Specimen:

Specification of  Compressometer

  • Concrete Specimen 5 cm dla, 30 cm high may be evaluated for deformation and strain characteristics while undergoing compression testing.
  • The dial indicator shows the average deformation of the specimen cylinder. In operation the compression meter is placed over the specimen which Is locked Into position using the mounting screw, and the control bars are removed.
  • Adjustments can be made in the setting of the dial gauge which will indicate deformation as specimen is tested.
  • The dial indicator reads to .002 mm x 12 mm or .0001 x W.
  • The dial indicator may be easily removed from the test specimen by loosening the holding collar at the top of the dial gauge. Complete in case.

Rugged Construction for Reliable Testing

The compressometer features a robust mild steel frame with a rust-resistant coating and hardened steel components, ensuring longevity and consistent performance. Its powder-coated and polished finish offers strong protection in environments with up to 90% relative humidity, making it ideal for use in various Indian climates. The clamp mounting system assures secure placement during high-precision measurements, supporting reliable results every time.

Manual Precision for Concrete Standards

Built for compliance with IS 516 and ASTM C469, this compressometer uses a high-precision dial indicator with instantaneous manual reading. The instrument supports manual test speeds per IS standards, facilitating flexible and controlled operations. No external power is required, making it portable and easy to use in different settings, whether in laboratories or on-site construction projects. Its resolution reaches up to 0.001 mm, providing accurate strain data for quality analysis.

Versatility Across Concrete Testing Applications

Accommodating both cylinders and prisms, the compressometer fits specimens up to 300 mm in height and 150 mm in diameter. Its universal mechanical interface and clamp-mounted design make it user-friendly for manufacturers, exporters, suppliers, and traders. The apparatus is suitable for single specimen tests at a time, offering reliability for academic research, industrial quality control, and civil engineering applications requiring dedicated testing of concrete deformation under compressive loads.

FAQs of Compressometer Concrete Specimen:

Q: How is the compressometer installed on concrete specimens?

A: The compressometer is clamp-mounted directly onto concrete cylinders or prisms, ensuring stability and precise positioning. Its mechanical interface and hardened steel components guarantee secure attachment, conforming to standard specimen sizes of 150 mm diameter x 300 mm height.

Q: What type of readings does the dial indicator provide, and how accurate are they?

A: The high-precision mechanical dial indicator delivers analog strain measurements with a resolution of 0.001 mm and an accuracy of 1 micron, in compliance with IS 516. Instantaneous manual readings allow for immediate recording during tests.

Q: When should I use a compressometer for concrete testing?

A: Compressometers are essential when you need to determine the deformation and strain characteristics of concrete specimens under compressive load, as required by IS 516 and ASTM C469 standards, especially for quality control and material research applications.

Q: Where can this compressometer be used effectively?

A: This compressometer is suitable for laboratories, manufacturing facilities, construction sites, and academic research centers. Its manual operation and robust finish make it ideal for field applications with varying temperatures (10C to 40C) and high relative humidity (up to 90%).

Q: What is the process for conducting a strain measurement test using this equipment?

A: First, mount the compressometer onto the concrete specimen, then initiate compression using a compatible machine (up to 3000 kN capacity). Observe and manually record strain via the dial indicator, following prescribed speeds as per IS standards. Only one specimen is tested at a time.

Q: How is the compressometer beneficial for concrete testing professionals?

A: It ensures precise and reliable deformation measurements, aiding in compliance with international standards, improving material quality assessment, and facilitating robust data collection without the need for electrical power.

Q: What maintenance is required to ensure optimal performance?

A: Regular cleaning to remove dust and debris, periodic examination of mechanical parts, and protection from corrosive environments help maintain the compressometers accuracy and lifespan. The corrosion-resistant coating and durable construction further reduce long-term maintenance needs.
