Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) is a Measure of the Water Capacity to Consume Oxygen at the time of Organic Matter Decomposition and the Oxidation of Nitrite, Ammonia and other Inorganic Chemicals.

COD Measurements are done on Waste Water Samples or of Natural Waters Contaminated by Domestic or Industrial Wastes.
