Product Description

Rod Mills are horizontal rotatingcylindrical steel chamber of half filled with steel rods of length slightlyless than the length of chamber. The rods are of different diameter. The sizereduction is accomplished by the impact of rods as they fall back after beinglifted by the rotating chamber. Rod Mill is fitted on a sturdy MS frame.

Charging of rods and material isdone by the means of opening provided in the chamber.

The chamber is turning about thehorizontal axis through a reduction gearbox drive through a motor.

The stepped pulley arrangement isdone for moving the Rod Mill at three different speeds.

A revolution counter is providedto find out the number of turns. Special arrangement is done to free the RodMill from reduction gearbox for charging and discharging the material.

Experimentation/learningobjectives:

To determine the efficiency of aRod Mill for grinding a material of known WI. 

To study effect of RPM on thepower consumption of a Rod Mill.

Utilities required:

Electric Supply: Single phase,220 V AC, 50 Hz, 5-15 amp combined socket with earth connection. Earth voltageshould be less than 5 volts.

Raw Material for Feed.

Sieve Shaker with set of sievesfor analysis.

Floor area: 1.5m x 1.0m

MCB: For overload protection.

Standard make on/off switch,Mains Indicator etc.

The set-up is fitted withrequired guards.
