About Universal Drive and Brake Unit

Universal Drive and Brake Unit:

Micro Teknik is manufacture, exporters & suppliers

Technical Description

The is core component of a modular series of equipment that allows experiments to be performed on a variety of engines and machines, e.g. pumps, turbines or combustion engines. The machine or engine to be tested is connected to the using a V-belt drive. The is attached to the machine or engine using toggle-type fasteners.

The main function of to provide the required drive or braking power to perform experiments on the selected engine or machine. This power is generated by an air-cooled asynchronous motor with a frequency converter. The energy that is created when braking in generator mode is converted into heat by a load resistor. The drive or braking torque can be precisely adjusted. It is measured indirectly using a force transducer. For this purpose, the asynchronous motor is mounted in floating bearings. A carriage on which the engine and force transducer unit can be moved acts as a tensioning device for the V-belt.

The contains digital displays for speed and torque. Data is transmitted between and the engine or machine via a data cable, which connects the control cabinets for the two units. All measuring signals are present in electrical form and can be stored and processed using the PC data acquisition function supplied for the engine or machine. Data is transmitted to the PC using a USB interface.

Superior Cooling Technology

Equipped with a water-cooled brake system, the UDBU-400 maintains stable operating temperatures during prolonged testing. This cooling provision ensures the units efficiency and longevity, even under heavy load conditions, making it suitable for high-performance engine evaluations.

Digital Control and Display

The integrated digital panel provides precise real-time indicators for both load and speed, empowering users with accurate data that is critical for engine performance analysis. Simple interface and advanced monitoring enhance overall usability and testing precision.

Rugged Construction and Versatility

Constructed with a mild steel frame and precision shafts, the UDBU-400 guarantees durability and high structural integrity. Its direct coupling and floor-mounting with vibration isolators allow stable operation across a wide range of engine types and capacities, meeting diverse laboratory and industrial needs.

FAQs of Universal Drive and Brake Unit:

Q: How does the water-cooled brake system enhance the performance of the UDBU-400?

A: The water-cooled brake efficiently dissipates heat generated during high-load or extended testing sessions. This mechanism prevents overheating, maintains operational stability, and extends the lifespan of the brake unit, ensuring consistent and reliable test outcomes for internal combustion engines.

Q: What types of engines and applications is the Universal Drive and Brake Unit suitable for?

A: The UDBU-400 is ideal for testing various internal combustion engines, including those used in automobiles, generators, and industrial machinery. Its high capacity (up to 400 HP) and broad speed range (up to 6000 RPM) make it suitable for R&D labs, quality testing, and performance validation.

Q: When should the overload and over-temperature protections be checked or activated?

A: These safety features are automatically engaged when the system detects excess load or elevated temperatures beyond preset limits. Operators should regularly verify their functionality during routine maintenance to ensure safe and uninterrupted equipment operation.

Q: Where is the UDBU-400 typically installed, and what mounting provisions are included?

A: Designed for floor installation, the UDBU-400 comes with vibration isolators that minimize the transfer of mechanical vibrations, providing stable and quiet operation. Its suitable for industrial, laboratory, and educational environments requiring robust testing facilities.

Q: What is the process for connecting an engine to the Universal Drive and Brake Unit?

A: Engines are directly coupled to the dynamometer using the provided precision drive couplings. The control panel allows for easy monitoring, while the sturdy construction ensures secure alignment. Proper mounting and coupling are vital for accurate, repeatable engine testing results.

Q: How does the digital control panel benefit the testing process?

A: The digital control panel offers real-time indication of load and speed, allowing users to precisely monitor engine performance metrics. This feature enhances data accuracy, contributes to reliable analysis, and makes the device user-friendly for both operators and engineers.
